Did you moved your body today? + Why Yoga is such a great form of exercise?
Did you know that our ancestors were walking approx. 15km a day, everyday? Moreover they were climbing, hunting and carrying all their belongings (and kids) with them. I bet they had a good night’s sleep after all of that!
This is what our bodies are shaped for: to be active and mobile, to run barefoot, to climb, to squat or sit on the ground. I can admit that my lifestyle looks completely different! Most of the modern lifestyle diseases has roots in lack of movement, poor diet and chronic stress.
Scientists say that in order for our mind and body to work properly we need at least 30 min a day or 45 min 3 times a week of moderate intensity exercises. The thing that matter here the most is consistency, longterm benefits can happen only when you commit. It applies to everyone, no matter age or background.
Why yoga is so great?
It actually decreases inflammation, where some of the other activities can do the opposite (too intense or mono training especially after a break or when your immune system is weakened)
It balances our nervous system and by reducing a stress and anxiety which can cause so many illnesses (boosts our stress resilience)
Usually during a class you use all your joints, ligaments and main muscles groups- mindful and balanced movement that increase mobility (strenght+ flexibility)
It changes your brain- helps producing more brain cells, you become more focused, controlling your impulses, more self- aware, releases happiness hormones (bye depression)
Improves quality of life especially amongst people with different ailments and conditions.
I attached some of the sources of my information, if you would like to see the scientific proofs.
+ Let’s move our bodies in every possible way. If you don’t use it- you’ll loose it!
